A new big jump in the number of oil wells in Iraq

177 oil wells are expected to be drilled in Iraq.
Iraq held talks with foreign and local oil companies, To drill 177 new oil wells, In the oil fields in Basra, Maysan and Nasiriyah, In the south of the country.

37 wells in the Zubair field
20 wells in the Nasiriyah field
28 wells in the Al-Gharraf field
43 wells in Majnoon field
27 wells in a field, east of Baghdad
22 wells in the Bazerkan field

The above numbers do not include the Schlumberger company contract, which includes approximately 98 wells in the Rumaila field
Such a contract is a remarkable and good development, especially during the coronavirus crisis, and it should provide jobs for a good number of unemployed Iraqis, especially engineers.

Also there are approximately 150 workover wells in Al-Amara Governorate, and its contract is expected to be signed.

A source added that Iraq, after the relative easing of the repercussions of the Corona virus, resumed negotiations with foreign oil companies operating in Iraq, in preparation for signing deferred contracts aimed at enhancing Iraq’s oil potential.

In addition to the conclusion of a contract with the North Oil Company in Kirkuk, “250 km north of Baghdad” to operate a number of drilling towers, rehabilitate a number of oil wells and enter into discussions with BP, the main operator of the southern Rumaila field, west of Basra province, to reach similar agreements.
